2013 Spring Collegiate Race Season Schedule

The race schedule has been released. It included two dual conference events with the MidWest Collegiate Cycling Conference (MWCCC) and South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference (SCCCC). The first race is rapidly approaching and the Hawks will be ready to ride!

March 30-31 – Open (Easter weekend)

April 20-21 – University of Iowa (Home Race)
April 27-28 – University of Minnesota-Twin Cities
May 3-5 – Collegiate Road Nationals (Ogden, UT)

Our order was submitted to Hincapie in early February and now we have to patiently wait until we get our new flashy kits. If you ordered a kit from us and want an update please contact us at iowacycling@gmail.com. As of right now the expected ship date is in late March.

2013 Kit:
We are currently finalizing our 2013 kits for the club. Detailed pictures will be provided when the kit design is 100% complete. If you are interested in ordering your own kit please contact us at iowacycling@gmail.com. We will send out an email to those who have contacted us who have shown interest. This will include pricing and availability.
We will be ordering our jerseys and bibs (mens and woman’s) from Hincapie Sportsware. After having great response from last years kits and logging thousands of miles in them we are pleased to order them again for 2013 as well.

Fall 2012 Racing

Fall 2012 Racing:
Team members Jake Glahn and Bryan Wenzel were active members in cyclocross races this fall sporting their Hawkeye kits where ever they came to dominate. Jake and Bryan had good showings at Bobbers CX, Morgan CX, Spooky CX, Dirty Wooden Shoe CX, and the grandaddy of them all Jingle Cross Rock CX. Bryan managed to get a top 10 in the mens cat 2 at the Sugarbottom Scramble mountain bike race as well.

The University of Iowa Cycling Club is opening their collegiate crit race up to the public! Now, not just collegiate riders will be able to experience the fast and fun Horseshoe criterium course. The course is fast, safe and fun. It’s essentially a little less than a mile horseshoe. A big downhill into a large sweeping corner that lead right into an uphill and short flat to the finish. Onsite registration only. Collegiate racing precedes USAC races.
Directions: From I-80 Heading East, Take Exit 244 south (Dubuque Street), Turn right on Foster Road. Follow Foster for just over a quarter of a mile. Turn right on Makinaw Drive/Manitou Street – head north to dead end to park.

Join us on Wednesday the 29th @ 140 Schaffer Hall @ 8 P.M.
Not only will you meet a group of new people that love to bike as much as you, but you will get the chance to participate in exciting community events, fun group rides and entertaining club socials. On top of all that, we will have tons of racing opportunities and chances to travel to different college campuses all throughout the Midwest.
No previous experience required! We will teach you everything you need to know about how to ride, race or reach that next goal. The only requirement is a bicycle and a love for bicycles.
